SMOK Morph 219 Review Plus Touchscreen Setup Instructions

UPDATE! The SMOK Morph 219 has been upgraded, and is now called the SMOK Morph 2. You get a larger tank, and better performance.

The SMOK Morph 219 Vape Starter Kit w/ TF Sub Ohm Tank is the latest powerhouse mod from popular vape company SMOK. Friendlier than the Alien, smarter than the V8 Beast Plus, the SMOK Morph is big step-up from its predecessors. This powerful mod combines a max wattage of 219w with a generous 6ml TF tank, but that’s just the beginning.

What puts the Morph over the top (even for SMOK) is the 1.9-inch OLED screen that lets you set personalized customizations for power, temperature, and even the name and nicotine strength of your vape. Best of all, you get huge vapor clouds and amazing flavor.

After having reviewed so many pod vapes, it was a joy to receive the SMOK Morph Starter Kit. While vape mods may not be for everyone, cloud chasers and any vaper tired of overly complicated touchscreens will appreciate this innovative device. Our step by step guide makes it even easier to customize all your settings.

Knockout Styling

SMOK Morph 219 5 colors

Color are Prism Chrome/Black; Prism Blue/Black; Gold/Black; Black/Red; Rainbow

SMOK does know how to design a featured-packed vape mod inside and out. Not only is the Morph sturdy, it’s visually stunning.

The face of the mod is covered with a smooth resin panel available in the usual five swirling colorways. SMOK’s resin panels are becoming a company trademark. You’ll see the same choices on the Nord pod vape. While it can get a bit repetitious, SMOK’s in-stock panels do keep the prices down. Unique to the Morph is the 510 drip tip that matches the resin panels of the mod. The other side of the mod features the highly-intuitive touchscreen.

Weighing 233 grams (with tank) the Morph 219 certainly isn’t a lightweight, but what it lacks in portability it makes up for in power. Trust me, you won’t want to put it down.

Steps for Setting Up the SMOK Morph 219

There are so many features packed into the Morph, (including auto-lock modes), setting up the mod does take a bit of know-how, so we’ll lay it out step-by-step.

1 – Charging the Device

SMOK Morph Charging Screen

Morph Charging Screen Display

The Morph 219 combines the power of two 18650 batteries with a new IQ-S chip that makes squeeze-firing your mode lightening fast – at a speed of 0.001 second.

First, you have to make sure you have the correct batteries and that they are fully charged. Insert them into the battery door and put the battery on the charger. The OLED screen will light up, and you’ll see an image of your batteries’ charge progress. Once they’re charged you can fill the tank, attach it and start the device.

2 – Using the New Color Touchscreen

Since the firing bar is integrated into the design, it isn’t exactly obvious that you have to press the bar 5 times to activate the Morph. I have to admit, I spent several frustrating minutes hitting the lock button/secondary key instead. Duh.

Successful activation immediately takes you to the Home Screen. From here you can customize your vape settings, but you first have to unlock everything. The device is very child resistant.

Morph 1st screen-unlocked

Morph 219 Home Screen

  • 3 Clicks on the Fire Key Bar Unlocks the Fire Key.
  • 1 Click on the Lock Key Brings up the Home Screen
  • 1 Long Click on the Lock Key unlocks the Lock Icon so you can start entering customizations .
  • Touch the icon in the upper left corner of the screen to get to the settings screen. Here you will get 4 options to further customize the Morph 219. You’ll see Mode, My Mode, Puff and Setting.

SMOK Morph Mode Setting Screen

SMOK Morph Mode Settings Screen

When you select the Mode Screen, you’ll see that the default setting is for WATTS.

The Morph Kit ships with 1 BF-Mesh Coil 0.25 ohm Coil Head (Pre-Installed) and 1 BC-Mesh 0.35 ohm Coil Head. Use the default Watts Mode for these coils. You also have the ability to fine-tune the Preheat level to Soft, Normal and Hard.

If you are using other coils, you can set the mode to Temp Ti (for Titanium coils) Temp Ni (for Nickel Chrome coils) and Temp SS (Stainless Steel coils). While in TCR mode you’ll get temperature ranges from 200F to 600F.

The Setting button is divided into four parts – General settings, Chip information, Theme settings and Password settings.

The General Setting screen shows the buttons – About, Factory Reset, Accessibility and Power Off.

The IQ-S Chip screen displays chip information. Wallpaper screen lets you select the background pattern. In Screen Color, you choose a preferred screen color, and another screen to enter a Passcode, if desired.

Dealing with the Auto Lock Key for Vaping

If the screen times out, and you hit the Fire Key, you’ll return to a locked home screen. This means your settings are locked in, but your ability to vape can also be locked!

Click the Fire Key Three Times. Now you can vape.

How to Stop the Auto Lock Feature

The Auto Lock Feature only locks your ability to vape. It isn’t in any way related to the Lock Icon on the home screen, which deals with your settings. The settings will always lock when the screen times out.

That said, you can turn off the Auto Lock permanently. I found it by going to: Home Screen/Setting/General/Accessibility. When Auto Lock is turned off, you’ll always be able to vape…even if the screen times out.

Setting the My Mode Feature

Once you’ve set all your preferences, you can save them with the My Mode Feature.

The Morph gives you four modes, so if you use different settings with different coils or nicotine strengths, you can save those settings in any of the four modes. You can even name your type of e-juice and nic level.

If you ever want to switch to another “My Mode” setting, or change any of the settings, you’ll have to unlock the device again by pressing and holding the Lock Key.

TF 219 Tank and Coils

SMOK Morph swivel fill top

Morph 219 TF Swivel Fill Tank

The Morph 219 Kit ships with a bulb glass TF Tank. It’s huge, holding 6mls of e-liquid for an all day vape. This baby is unlikely to break if you drop it, as the kit also includes a protective silicone cover.

The 0.25ohm Mesh coil head comes pre-installed. As mentioned, it should be used in the WATT Mode in the 30 to 80W range.

You also get a 0.35ohm Mesh coil which works best using the WATT Mode in the 30 to 70W range.

Both coils provide an A1 Kanthal heating element with a honeycomb structure for evened heat distribution and an overall longer lasting coil. As for the wicks, they’re made with premium 100% organic cotton for the purest flavor available.

Dual Adjustable Air Slots fine tune your throat hit.

Like to vape more than 1 type of e-juice? The Morph 219 kit also includes a handy replacement glass so you’ll spend less time cleaning your tank and more time vaping!

As for filling the tank, SMOK uses a sliding fill cap. Always prime the coil by letting your e-juice sit in the tank for about 10 minutes. Make sure the tank is fully connected, or you’ll get leaking.

Big Clouds / Full Flavor

woman vaping smok morph 219

The Morph will give you lovely clouds and full flavor

When it comes to producing vapor, the mod and tank are a match made in heaven. Even with watts set at a modest 30, I was blowing beautiful, voluminous vape clouds. Of course, I used a high VG e-liquid (a necessity for sub-ohm vaping). I tested my mod with Diacetyl-Free Mango Tango e-juice. The tropical flavors were intense.

Conclusion:

The Morph does have a lot of safety lock features, primarily aimed at preventing others from using the device or changing settings. While it can make things less adult friendly, there’s a huge payoff with this mod’s power and performance.

The bottom line is that SMOK has created a winning Sub Ohm TC Starter Kit, complete with a large e-juice tank and a highly customizable interface touchscreen. Beautifully designed and easy to use, the SMOK’s Morph 219 delivers a full-flavored vape and voluminous clouds at the right price.

I’m having a issue with my mod locking with the password to whatever my pocket set it to and want to know the correct way to go about getting my Smok Morph 219 either reset or have the firmware upgraded as I just recently bought and can no longer use because of my dilemma

    1. Hi Sam,
As you know, the device has 2 buttons – the fire button (the large silver bar at the side of the device), and the mode button (also called the secondary key) which is the small black button on the top of the side button. I understand that it keeps locking on you because the mode button keeps getting pressed in your pocket. Nothing will happen if you press the side button. With the device turned on, click the side bar 3 times. It will still be locked, so you now have to LONG PRESS this button to unlock it. This should unlock the device.

Regarding the passcode, you can turn off the need to enter a passcode by going to My Mode. Here you can set several parameters, including a factory reset and a passcode setting. You can set “require passcode” to off or on. You can also enter a passcode if you want to. You’ll have to set the answer to 2 questions.

I suggest you turn off the Auto Lock permanently. You can find it by going to: Home Screen/Setting/General/Accessibility. When Auto Lock is turned off, you’ll always be able to vape…even if the screen times out.

      I hope this helps!

I bought the Morph 219 about a week ago. I am new to vaping. This is my second device (first being the smok fetch mini) and I couldn’t be more happy with my purchase. The Morph 219 gives me huge flavorful hits. The mode settings were a bit confusing st first but this article help clarify things up quite a bit. I would recommend this device to any one and everyone. One problem I have came across and I did with my fetch mini and my moms smok trinity alpha is the tank on my morph leaks thru the adjustable air vents. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? I know im not over filling. Any suggestions? The pods on both the previous stated devices seemed to leak as well.

    1. Hi BreakingHearts!

Here are steps you can try to stop your Morph from leaking:
First – Make sure your coil is secured and o-ring is sealing against the base of the tank.
Second – Close the airflow ring before you open the tank
Third – Fill the tank, then close it securely.
Fourth – After you fill the tank, turn the Morph upside down and let the e-juice settle.
Fifth – After the juice settles, and still upside down, open the airflow ring.
This supposedly causes an internal vacuum that should prevent leaking.
      I hope this helps!

my SMOK MORPH 219 keeps coming up with “FIREKEY LOCKED.” I know how to unlock it but mod seems to have a problem with the FIREKEY. Locked all the time. Have to unlock it all the time.
    Any answers?

    1. Hi Dean,

You should keep the mod locked until you use it. When the mod is turned on, it’s easy to unlock it by clicking the power bar 5 times.

Have you tried going to Home Screen/Setting/General/Accessibility? When you are there, you can turn off Auto Lock. When Auto Lock is turned off you’ll always be able to vape…even if the screen times out. Hope this helps!

I have bought a SMOK 219 kit I haven’t been able to use it as it displays 0Hms to high I don’t have a clue what this means could you possibly help me. I’m 70 yrs old so if you could solve this matter in a way I can understand I would be very grateful

    1. Hi Joan,

Perhaps your SMOK 219 is locked. 1 Long Click on the Lock Key unlocks the Lock Icon so you can start entering customizations.

I bought this off a for sale sight on facebook and it has a lock on it. I am not able to get in contact with the seller is there a way to bypass the lock or factory reset it??

    1. Hi Kait,

Yes the Morph 219 has one of the most complicated locking systems. The answer your question is detailed in this post’s section 2 – Setting Up Your SMOK Morph. Hope this helps.

I’m having this same issue, there’s a lock on mine and i don’t know the code and i didn’t see where it tells you how to bypass it in section 2.

        1. Hi Harley,

Have you tried to unlock it by clicking the power bar 5 times?

You can also try going to the Home Screen/Setting/General/Accessibility. When you are there, you can turn off Auto Lock. When Auto Lock is turned off you’ll always be able to vape…even if the screen times out.

Same issue. Bought this secondhand. Don’t know the passcode but I need to know how to do a factory reset. It’s not listed in section 2 of this article. Or anywhere else for that matter. I’ve looked in the manual and contacted customer service. How do you factory reset this mod? I can’t get past the passcode screen to do anything.

            1. Hi Kim,
Your question was very helpful, as I have just revised this article with new information.

To answer your question on how to reset the device, first make sure your SMOK MORPH 219 is in UNLOCK MODE. Use THE SECONDARY KEY/LOCK KEY (see diagram on this page), to unlock the device if it is locked. Touch the icon in the upper left corner of the screen to get to the Settings Screen. You’ll see Mode, My Mode, Puff and Setting. Click the Setting button. The General Setting screen now shows the buttons – About, Factory Reset, Accessibility and Power Off. Hope this helps!

    1. Hi Shaun,

We do not sell vape products on our website. You would need to contact the customer service department of the company from which you made your purchase.

I bought the smok morph 219 starter kit, unfortunately it only came with an extra 0.35 ohm coil and not a replacement glass. Also I bought the starter kit because I’m new and was hoping it would come with basically a beginners guide. I love it but it’s really confusing with all the settings and watts.

    1. Hi Joseph,

Sorry you are having those problems with your Morph! My kit is shown in the image on this review page. I did receive both the replacement glass and an instructions manual. You can get it from VaporDNA, as I know they are are very reputable when it comes to selling vaporizers and e-juices. Hopefully my post can help you understand how to work your device.

      Thanks for commenting!
